The Best Things in Life.... it's when dads do the talking....

It all began on a gloomy Sunday trip to Thailand…. I never thought this is for real, all the while I treated this as a joke, but now it did happened...
I was enjoying my final rest (at last after a week of stay in Beijing… except that I missed the snow, I missed the wall, fine I got the incentive- shopping!!) ,sipping a cup of Milo while in the mood watching HBO’s “The Firm ”. It was just my dad and I watching, while all the rest of the gang was outside my Lola’s house. Mitch was on his way running trying to escape from his hunters and then out of the blue my dad started talking. He began with a little gist, about what would Kuya probably doing at that very moment. Umm, perhaps looking for a job, we are four hours ahead so maybe he was still down the clock sleeping, or maybe doing laundry or worst cooking!!!...hahaha, .. He said it was after sending me to the airport last November, driving towards home, when Kuya said “Pa, masanay ka na po” . And brought up again when finally setting the van into the garage... He said, “kaya ni Chel yun”. Aha, and I never thought Papa would be in too much burden that he didn’t slept at all for two consecutive days, and that when I was away for a week. I can’t blame him, actually I felt twice as much as he did... umm but on second thought, he felt more loads inside than I did as I can hear it from his agitated voice within, in fact whose parents won’t? (yeah, stupid me). He was really worried to think this girl on her early twenty’s (very young..haha)had left alone on a trip??? It was an adventure, indeed! See I managed to last, I even told him that I went home by myself from a crowded place I didn’t even know where. My colleagues said I can take a cab back to the hotel, but I took the sky train instead (hard headed), at least I got a real time exploring Bangkok streets with my buoyant shadow, hehe. I brought this up to knock off his worries. Having said that, tears fell down his cheeks and so as mine.. I get it, that was precisely the point of all these tattles; we are no longer the old young kiddos who used to cry out our wounds, mumble our worries, get ice cream or candies out of our noble acts, giggles even during Sunday mass, let mama pick clothes for us, and yeah with those striking drama dresses with white stockings and a bag to match our clothing (beginning to reminisce the old good days, hahaha, can't stop), those times when we used to have petty fights as to who will have the power over the tv remote control, it’s always been a first come first serve basis so you’d better get off your bed early, who will get the most number of Yakult in the fridge, (definitely not me, =<), who will sit on the first dining chair next to the television, the aliases we used to laugh at (eyang=bungal, chel=baboy, nald=peklat) hahaha…. And all those sorts…. It’s funny how time slips so fast, and that everything has changed, oh and did I say it’s funny? It’s actually not……. This is everything my dad fears, he even cracked “wala na kaming laruan”…hahahahaha..... It hurts… I knew it hurts…. Though we tend to laugh at the most, tears were still dripping… We’ve never been away from each other for so long, and it will definitely take a long long time to be used to it (I can’t even think about it) when now that my brother had left seeking for a greener pasture abroad; When all this time I thought it was entirely a piece of shaggy dog story, but not until Feb 6 came…He was actually busy doing stuffs like getting his TORs and diplomas done, that I even had it too in full force…It did happened after my return from Thailand… it’s really hard on our part, what more to Mama and Papa….Worst is after sending Kuya to the airport, my boss called and told me I’m going to Beijing this coming Sunday, not sure though…It did sink in… Now, Ym and webcams are our means of communication, I hurried down to buy one, at least we got the chance to see Kuya every once in a while even on cams...
Yes, and it is the most gradient talk I had with my father ever, umm, isn’t it? Umm, I can’t recall when was the last..haha..
Never thought this part will come, when out of the blue I just have uttered, “what if I’m next”?
Silence came...
And I hated it... :_(
